Viallo vs Amazon Photos
Amazon Photos gives Prime members unlimited storage. Sharing outside the Amazon ecosystem? That gets complicated.

If you already pay for Prime, Amazon Photos is hard to beat on storage - unlimited full-resolution photos at no extra cost. The catch: sharing is limited to the Family Vault (5 people, Amazon accounts required), and the app is clearly a secondary Amazon product, not a polished photo sharing experience.

Ecosystem lock-in
Amazon Photos is a Prime perk - and that's both its strength and weakness. Unlimited photo storage sounds great until you realize it vanishes if you cancel Prime. Your photo library becomes a reason to keep paying $14.99/month for a subscription you might not otherwise want. Viallo is standalone - your storage is yours regardless of any other subscription.
Sharing limitations
Amazon Photos sharing is surprisingly limited for a Big Tech product. Family Vault supports up to 5 Amazon accounts. Beyond that, you can share individual photos but recipients need Amazon accounts. There's no public link sharing, no password-protected albums, no way to share with someone who doesn't have an Amazon account. Viallo lets you share with anyone via a link - no accounts, no limits on viewers.
Privacy and data concerns
Amazon is an advertising company. While Amazon Photos terms don't explicitly state photos are used for ad targeting, the broader Amazon ecosystem raises legitimate privacy concerns. Viallo stores photos on Cloudflare R2 servers in the EU, operates under GDPR, and has no advertising business. Your photos are stored and served - nothing more.
Pricing comparison
If you already pay for Prime ($14.99/month), Amazon Photos is essentially free unlimited photo storage - hard to beat on value. Without Prime, you get only 5 GB. Extra storage starts at $1.99/month for 100 GB. Viallo free gives you 10 GB with 2 albums. Plus ($5.99/month) adds 200 GB with password protection. Pro ($14.99/month) gets you 1 TB with analytics and profile sharing.
