Viallo Is Now on Android

What does the Android app do?

The app is listed on Google Play under the developer Zava, free to install with in-app purchases. Like the iPhone app, it is a shell around the same web app a browser loads, so the features, the account and the albums are the same on both phones and on the web.

• Upload from your gallery. Photos you pick are read as the original file and sent without transcoding.
• Take a photo inside the app. A photo taken with the app's own camera is saved as a JPEG at quality 90 before it is uploaded. For the untouched original, take it with your phone's camera and pick it from the gallery.
• Push notifications. One of them is a weekly summary of who opened the links you shared, and each type can be switched off in settings.
• Share links. Create a link, send it, and revoke it from the app or the web whenever you want.

You do not need the app to use Viallo on Android. The same albums open in a browser at viallo.app.

Do the people you share with need the app?

No. Viallo is a private photo sharing platform where the people you send an album to open it in any browser, with no app and no account. Photos are stored at full resolution without compression, and nothing in Viallo uses them for AI scanning or training. The Android app is for the person making the album, not for the people looking at it. The long version of that promise is in how to share photos without making anyone download an app.

Does the Android app upload photos at full size?

At the median, yes. Photos are not tagged with the client that sent them, so we grouped accounts by which clients they had ever signed in from and counted the photos each group uploaded to its own albums between 29 July and 25 October 2026. The values below were counted on 26 October 2026 from Viallo's production database, as totals only, with no group under 10 accounts; the full numbers are in dataset.csv.

The long edge is almost the same from Android and iPhone accounts, and so is the median file, 2.44 MB. The Android median has fewer megapixels because its short edge is shorter (2340 against 3024 pixels), which fits a wider frame saved by the phone better than a resize, though the counts cannot prove which.

A quarter of the Android photos are under 2048 pixels on the long edge, against 9.3% from iPhone accounts. Of those 1,041 photos, 536 carry no camera details in their metadata and 89 have WhatsApp's file names, so they were small files before Viallo saw them. The other 416 carry camera details and come from 12 accounts; the counts do not say what made them small. In the browser row, the median account's own median is 7.4 megapixels, so the 2048-pixel photo median comes from accounts that uploaded many smaller files.

Can a group add photos to one album from different phones?

Yes. Turn on collaborative uploads for an album and anyone with the contributor link can add photos from the Android app, the iPhone app or a browser, so a trip or a wedding ends up in one album instead of six camera rolls. Albums stay private by default: you choose who has the link, and you can revoke it from either app or the web.

Is it the same account on Android, iPhone and the web?

Yes. The Android app, the iPhone app and the web app share one account and one library. Upload from a laptop, view on your phone, hand someone the contributor link on whatever phone they own, and there is nothing to migrate or set up twice. On a Mac, Windows, a tablet or anything else, the web app is the full Viallo.

How do you get it?

Open Viallo on Google Play, or open viallo.app on your phone, where the home page links the same listing. If you already have a Viallo account, sign in and your albums are there. If you don't, the free plan gives you 2 albums, 200 photos and 10 GB, and needs no card. The paid plans are on the pricing page.

How was this checked?

On 26 October 2026 we ran one read-only MongoDB aggregation against Viallo's production database, with the owner's approval for counts only: every photo an account owner uploaded to their own album between 29 July and 25 October 2026, grouped by the clients the account had signed in from, with the median pixel size and file size per group. No group smaller than 10 accounts is published, and photos taken with the in-app camera are left out of the table for that reason. The query, the results and a script that re-checks their sums and every quoted page are query.js, dataset.csv and check.py.
